FAQ
Questions before the first line.
What SongWriter Direct does today, where it is going, and how privacy and collaboration are designed.
What is SongWriter Direct?
SongWriter Direct is a connected songwriting workspace for writing, catalog management, collaboration, rights, releases, creator connections, files, and project workflow.
Is SongWriter Direct only for lyrics?
No. Lyrics are the starting point, but the platform is being built to follow a song through development, collaboration, recording, rights, release, and promotion.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. SongWriter Direct is designed as a responsive web app/PWA so the same workspace can be used from a browser and installed on supported phones.
Can other people edit my songs?
Only if you invite them and choose Edit access. You can also give View or Comment access, change permissions later, or revoke access.
Are my lyrics public?
No. Songs and profiles are private by default. Public profile, song, and release visibility must be deliberately enabled.
Does SongWriter Direct track split sheets?
Yes. It currently supports composition and master ownership split sheets with participant shares, review states, and acknowledgement records.
Does it replace my cloud backup?
It can export workspaces and supports production backups. Additional cloud-provider connections are planned, but your core song data is not dependent on a single provider.
Will there be paid plans?
Yes. Free, Writer, Pro, and Studio/Team plan foundations are already built. Billing itself will be enabled later.
Can I find musicians and collaborators?
Yes. Public creator discovery, collaboration needs, direct messages, and song invitations are already part of the platform foundation.
Will it support artists as well as songwriters?
Yes. SongWriter Direct is designed for songwriters, vocalists, musicians, producers, bands, and creative teams who work around songs.
